Today, I think I'd like to talk about serving Christ whole-heartedly. Yeah, I know, slightly off topic but if you think about it, worship is a form of serving Christ. You can use music to reach the people around you. A few months ago, 2 of my best friends and I attended a Tenth Avenue North Concert. One of my friends was not saved and my other friend and I were very worried about her. We took her to this concert in order to show her that although some christian music can be blan, there are some, actually a lot, which have good sound but also good words. After the concert she told us that they were her new favorite band. My friend and I were thrilled! This was a step in the right direction! We continued to work with our friend and help her and soon she came to know Christ as her personal Savior. See? Music can have a big impact on how we live our lives! So what does this mean for me? Well, how can you serve a God who deosn't tolerate sin if your head is constantly filled with thoughts that popular music today fills you with? Music today is all about having fun, living life to the fullest, and puts emphasis on relationships, drugs, and alcohol. What kind of person can serve God whole-heartedly if all they think about is when they get to have another cigarette or who the next person they're going to hop into bed with will be? But it can be hard to combat this reoccuring trend, right? Wrong! There are so many contemporary artists that DON'T focus on those things! I've already named a few but there are many, MANY more out there! Remember, God tells us to stray from temptation, to avoid being tempted, and to pray not to be led into temptation.

"Happy is the man who doesn't give in or do wrong when he is tempted, for afterward he will recieve as his reward the Crown of Life that God has promised those who love Him. And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it. Temptation is the pull of man's own evil thoughts and wishes." James 1:12-14

I'm Back!

Well folks, I'm sorry about the extended absence. I hope I'll be able to update on a daily basis now! On a more exciting note, I am much more aquainted with some christian artists now than I was last year. My hope is to use my knowledge of these talented people and hand it off to you and your teenager so that you can become closer to our perfect, heavenly Father and worship Him in a contemporary, yet pleasing manor!

Song 2

This is my second Blogger song.
It's called Then Comes the Rain

Verse 1:
The hurt inside's too much to bare.
The burden on my shoulders is just too strong.
This drought we're in could be the end of me.
Because I just can't take the calm.

Chorus:
This drought is so calm I can't even sleep.
It's so quiet, all that is heard is the cracking of my heart.
When the rain comes I'll be whole again,
with that part of me that dried up with the drought.

Verse 2:
This drought is just too heavy,
the burning in my heart, I can't take it.
I need something to quench my thirst.

Verse 3:
So when the rain comes, I'll be returned
with a new found light to brighten the darkest nights
with You in my heart.

Repeat Chorus 1x
Bridge:
When my soul is awakened and I find all that I am,
when the hole inside disappears,
then comes the rain, then comes the rain.

Verse 4:
The hurt inside's too much to bare.
The burden on his shoulders is just too strong.
This drought we're in could be the end of him.
Because he just can't take the calm.

This song is talking about a time in my life where I walked away from Christ. I became a christian when I was 5 years old, but when I turned 7 my parents got divorced. I turned my back on Him because I couldn't believe how He could just let something like that happen. But in the roughly 5 year time span, I could feel something missing. There was a thirst that was there and when I was 12 years old, I reentered my relationship with God. Since then I have never felt that thirst and now I know that He is always here, watching over all of us, making sure that everything in our lives goes as planned and keeping us safe.

First Blogger song

This is the first song that I'm writing to be put on Blogger.
It's called Undying Love

Verse 1:
Can't make out the words in your head.
Don't want to face the facts.
But you need to pray and you need to see,
that what He says is right, and all He wants is for you to be
with Him, and in Him, and by His side.

Chorus:
Make the darkness disappear, make it fade away.
Ask Him to help, ask Him to prey on those things that seek to devour you.
Make it known you want Him here, tell Him you want to be
undying with Him forever, just as His love for you is undying.

Verse 2:
Cannot seem to make those words come of the pages.
You can't bring yourself to do it, can't make yourself act that way.
But in the end, He wants your love and wants you to be like Him.
Read and act on the things you've seen but don't forget to pray.

Chorus Repeat 1x

Bridge:
The undying love He's felt for us has not gone unseen.
He gives us satisfaction day to day, even when the clouds are
coated in gray.
Just take the time and thank Him, to love Him. Return His undying love.

Chorus Repeat 1x

Verse 3:
Cant' make out the words in my head.
Don't want to take it back.
But I must pray, every day, to make it all okay.
And I soon will see, the undying love He has for me.

First Thoughts

To begin, I'll give some advice on finding artists that fit your style. So, what kind of music do you like? Pop, rock, metal, rap, country, jazz, acoustic, blues, or punk? Some people don't know what kind they like until they actually listen to some examples, like good examples of pop would be Relient K or Remedy Drive. And Fireflight and Thousand Foot Krutch are good examples of rock/metal. So some other good examples would be: Mae (pop), Barlow Girl (pop), Anberlin (alternative), Falling Up (rock), Chasen (rock), Rush of Fools (pop), Seventh Day Slumber (pop), Third Day (country), Carrie Underwood (country), Martina McBride (country), Casting Crowns (pop), Lanae' Hale (country/pop), and Natasha Bedingfield (pop). If you know of any others please tell me and I will add them to the list. I will be posting many more.

A Starting Note...

Okay. So I am 14 and will be 15 in July. I LOVE music and am always singing music around the house and listening to music in the car, on the computer, and on walks, in classes(when allowed (: ), etc. But a big question is what kind of music is good, wholesome music for my teenager? As a teenager myself, I have my own style of music that I like separate from my family, and I am here to share some ideas and some songs that I have, and will be writing on my own time.
